How often should I change passwords?

Only when there is reason to — a breach, or a suspicion of compromise. Forced regular rotation is no longer recommended by NIST or the NCSC, because it pushes people toward predictable incremental changes.

What the Password Strength Checker does

The single biggest factor is length, not complexity. A long passphrase of ordinary words beats a short string of symbol substitutions: 'correct horse battery staple' is far stronger than 'P@ssw0rd!', because attackers' dictionaries already contain every common substitution. Aim for length first.
