About

What the Image to Text (OCR) does

Accuracy depends almost entirely on the source image. Clean, high-contrast, straight-on text is recognised very reliably; handwriting, low resolution, heavy shadow and steep angles all degrade results sharply. Getting a better photo helps far more than any post-processing.

How it works

Using the Image to Text (OCR)

  1. 1Upload an image, or provide the URL of one.
  2. 2Optionally apply preprocessing such as greyscale or thresholding to improve contrast.
  3. 3Enable deskewing if the text is at a slight angle.
  4. 4The image is analysed and character shapes are recognised.
  5. 5The extracted text is returned, with a confidence score where available.
